Injector Pumps & Injectors
Injector Pumps and Injectors
There’s nothing more annoying then when your Transit starts acting up!
One of the more common issues that we see come through our workshop are problems with the injector and/or injectors pumps. These injectors are an electronic component found in all modern day diesels and are responsible from pumping your diesel fuel into the engine cylinders.
Basically, they play a massive role in your Transit’s performance, and a non-functioning injector or pump can lead to disaster!
At Ford Transit WA, we have the technology, experience and knowledge to diagnose and repair your vehicles injectors.

How can we tell there is a problem with your injectors?
There are a few ways that we can determine that your injectors are the cause of your problems:
- We can take a fuel sample. If there is metal swarf or other debris in said sample, it’s a sure sign there is an injector issue
- We will electronically diagnose the problem in our workshop with our state of the art computer equipment.
With most modern diesel engines, we should be able to diagnose the issue electronically, but on occasion we may have to use other methods to figure out the problem.
What can be done to prevent this issue from happening?
All it takes is one tank of bad diesel for your injector pumps to start failing. That’s why the two most important things you can do are:
- Service your Transit at the Ford recommended times (typically every 10k)
- Make sure that you go to a mechanic who changes the fuel filter at the recommended times.
At FTSWA, we only use Genuine Ford Filters during your regular service, which are extremely high quality and designed specifically for your Transit.
We have found that many mechanics use aftermarket filters. This is a huge NO-NO! These aftermarket filters are typically more cost effective, but they tend to be made with low quality parts, so are more prone to missing particles that may clog your injectors.
What can happen if the issue goes undiagnosed?
Wear & Tear: All it can take is one tank of bad diesel!
How long does this type of service take?
Your Ford Transit will need to be in the shop for at least one day, dependent on the service that is being carried out.
